My Singapore trip!
Boarded the bus at 10am. Took Nicer 2. Okay. Some of the seats were a goner and the food… No wait, I am supposed to be telling you about Singapore.
I was excited even when I went through customs. First time entering a Foreign country after Russia. What was cool about our passport is that it has a chip so you can just scan and don have to queue, pretty cool =)
Once in Singapore I noticed, yes the roads are better, smoother, cleaner (not the air though) and the people, they ALL speak MANDARIN!
The haze has attacked there too, so the weather was not too friendly. My first ride on a Singapore cab. Wah! So high tech ah. They have a screen, and this funny invisible voice that says "Please fasten your seat belt" Cool eh? *goofy look*
Anyway, first MRT Station: Newton. And off to Sommerset. It was so cool! I think their system is Okay, but they need BIGGER sign boards.
Sommerset apparently is the MAIN chopping area (cut throat prices). Right at the back of Centrepoint is Aunt Cynthia’s place whom I call Cynthia.
We were standin in front of house no 46 & 48 and my baby did know which house was his aunt’s. Sigh. To make things worse, his mobile battery died on him, and his roaming was not working. So used my phone, exchanged SIMS and saved number then called her. She did not pick up but left message and she passed on that to her hubby (Al) and he greeted us at the front door. Hillarious!
I took a nice shower, B helped his Uncle at the Patio with some plants, and then I went shopping for dinner with his aunt at Cold Storage. In Singapore, everything is Dollar to Dollar. Meaning Kit Kat is RM2 and it is SD2 in Singapore. So that is why I Say it is expensive.
After grocery shopping, came home, had a nice yummy home made spaghetti, and rushed to get dressed for the Russell Peters show.
Cabbie came at 6.46pm and we were at the hall by 6.57pm. The driver was amazing. From Emerald Hill to Shentonway in less than 15 mins. He took us through back alleys (places they don show on TV) and he was there in a jiffy. We tipped him of course!
Waited for our other friends (Surej John and Bernard) to join as they were running late. So the guys at the entrance was kind enough to take their tickets note my name and pass the tickets to them when they came.
And the show began. I laughed so much I cried.. and I laughed and laughed. Enough said! Russell Peters did justice to the money spent!=)
Came home wanted to go out but Cynthia’s house was so nice and cosy decided to stay home and eat and drink lots of white wine. So happy. A little drama erupted when Cynthia’s dinner guests, her neighbours had an argument. The Caucasian way, no screaming but weird way of scolding with no high pitched voices. Hmmmm…
After all that drinking I was happy and ready for La La land. Hugged my baby and slept on nice HUGE Queen Sized bed with fluffy Duck feather quilt!
Woke up at 9. And watched my baby sleep.. till 11am cannot tahan, I woke him up. Took our baths and was ready to battle Orchard road! I love the waffle ice cream, they rock. Yummy. And we saw baskers (is that what they are called) This guy and a gal in silver paint sitting still and moving occasionally. No, did not put money for them, but I paid all the street strollers. I love music! Should support surviving musicians. Did not buy much, only fridge magnets for mom she loves collecting them.
Had the worst Burger King in my life. PATHETIC looking. Enough said! B’s Uncle Alex was in Singapore on Sunday too so went out with the whole family and it was all good.
Cds are cheaper in Singapore. Next time must buy lots of CD.
Came home late at 1am. I don particularly love Singapore as she did not have culture. I think I would enjoy Thailand more =) Don think Singapore is uniquely anything! Just a rip off of everything from everywhere.
Okay am done!
